Optilux Fog Lights

Hey, Sorry I can't search, but does anyone have the Optilux Angel Eyes 2500 fog lights? I heard they are an exact fit to replace the OEM 5th gen fog lights.

Thanks in advance.

they are not exact fit replacements. It can fit but its a universal fog light therfore has to be modified to fit.

I'm thinking about buying driving lights 4'' round and 3.75'' deep. Would it be possible to just somehow attach 2 screws so that they come out of the back of the housing that'll just easily fit into the back of the stock mount? In other words, modify the driving light so that it looks like the stock fogs w/the 2 screws coming out the back? Would that be easier than modifying the actual mount? The other thread didn't really say specifically how they modified the housing so that the Optilux could fit.

i am sure it can be done, as long as you get the right size driving light. Only way to know is to try.

I think they're the same size as the Optilux. So would attaching the "screws" to the driving light housing w/some kind of silicon adhesive be secure enough? I don't really know what to use to attach the screws to the housing (don't wanna drill).

Do you know of anyone who has the Optilux lights. I am curious as to how difficult they are to install.

I installed them on my Max' last week. Well, lets just say you have to be creative with a Dremmel tool

The way that the 'holes' are after you pull the OEM assembly out, do not warrant you being able to simply bolt them in. to get the best, (read secure) fit you really should try and manipulate the stock fog housings, even then its a bit complicated.

The insides of the OEM fogs are uneven and don't really lend to well to bolt the Optilux's in either, so I was forced to fabricate some brackets that bolted to the back of the OEM housings which would make them flat, level, and smooth-then I bolted the Optilux's onto those and re-installed the lights as you would with the OEM.

In regards to the wiring, well after I aimed my headlights so they aren't pointing directly into the ground, I found that I really don't need to use driving/fog lights all that much. Saying that, I used the OEM wiring to light the halo portion of the lights with the stock fog switch, and if I want to use the actual lights, I used the supplied switch that came with them, (which I flush mounted into one of the spare cover buttons I have on the left side of the steering column.

The reason I went through all this trouble is because my drivers side fog cracked a week after I got my car, and I just couldn't justify purchasing one light for the amount Nissan was charging, so I got two lights, (now with 3M clear guard on them) for less than the price of one.

Its really not as bad as it sounds, you just have to be careful and patient, especially with trimming the OEM housings out.

This install I am talking about was all done on a 03' Maxima SE. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures-but I may be putting them on a friends Maxima soon, and if so, I can document it then.
