So what if it's an auto? It's still a 350Z! Would you complain if you get one free? What you want him to say? "um...thanks mom, I like it, but can we go back and get a 6spd version instead?"

oh cool...I always hoped we'd get into a "car sob story battle"....

here's mine...(i have paid for all of these MYSELF...no help whatsoever)

1st car: 1978 BMW 320i with 265,000 miles and a broken odometer. Everytime it was filled up, i had to give it a quart of oil too.

2nd Car: 1978 MGB convertible. No syncro on 3rd gear. I got lots of girlie attention though!!

3rd Car: 1988 Audi 4000 Quattro. Had missing teeth on the flywheel, so everytime I started it I had to have someone push the car with it in gear to get the motor to turn over to where the starter would line up with some teeth on the flywheel. An awesome handling car though.

4th Car: 1989 Mazda 323. Awesome car. Lasted me all the way through college. 5 speed and got about 30 MPG.

5th Car: 1996 Dodge stratus w/ autostick (one of the first cars with autostick option. Bought it from my dad. My brother hit a horse in it one night, it got totalled.

6th Car: 1994 Acura Integra with 211,000 miles. Paid $1,600 for it. Ran like it was brand new. Amazing.

7th Car: 1996 Ford Bronco XLT. BIG. BLACK. FLOWMASTERS. EVERY red neck's wet dream.

8th Car: 1995 Nissan Maxima GXE. Black, tan cloth. Smelled like dirty diapers.

9th Car: Current Baby, 2000 GXE. My favorite so far.

My wife (who I started dating in high school...and yes, she pushed the quattro quite a few times) always had nice, brand new cars. And she took care of them like crazy cause she had to help pay for them. If this dude's parents are smart, they will make him pay for atleast some of it. He will respect it and take care of it if they do.

Its all about the 1994 dodge caravan Le, flat black hood, the brakes fail occasionally, abs light is on, check engine light is on, sliding door doest work, roof racks, the worst turning radius, and extremely bald tires. Especially when i cruise with the aviators on, AC/DC rockin, and my hat on, boy is it a chick magnet.

Is it possible?

That this kids' parents are looking to adopt? I mean, I'm available, I do yard work, I have a steady job, I got good grades in high school and college, I was never arrested for anything.....

I deserve a Z too! (my wife still says no . Says we need room for our 3 kids- geez!)

1st car: Hand me down 86 Olds Ciera that I had to share with my older brother. 2.4L "tech 4" engine. Yea....tech 4 my ****. Would not start when it rained(changed everything electrical), blew ignition modules like it was its job. Only 1 of 4 of the power windows worked, thank got it was the drivers window. No radio reception, delco tape deck broke, broken A/C, half of the lines on the rear defrost didn't work, leaky gas tank(couldn't fill it up to full), horn wouldn't work, belts ALWAYS squeaked-even new ones, rust everywhere....and then some.

Basically, why I'd never buy a GM. Even if they are much better now...they have to pay for their mistakes. The kicker is that at 130K miles the ciera had NO life left in it. Sure..the engine was still making 90% of the power it did when new, but was useless when there were just millions of problems.

My 93GXE(bought and paid for myself 5 years ago), with 103K is night and day compared to the Olds. I can't even describe the differnce.

good for him! if his parents bought him that, hopefully he is a good guy and deserves it. and if you apreciate what you are given, then you are NOT spoiled! and seeing that he cried i am sure he was very apreciative and knew that he was very fortunate.
i am 18 and make a payments every single month for max, but my mom gave me 2g's for a down payment. i am very grateful

my friends dad bought him a 2k1 camaro SS at 17!! its about 6 months later and he says hes board with it and wants something else

Oh, a POS that you park at the train station. I commute into NYC and I see how cars can get banged up in a lot. Everyone is in a rush and they park too close and hit your doors. The station car takes the abuse, the nice car stays home in the garage

OMG, my jealousy makes me want to kick all their a$$es! Why wasn't my life like that at 18??? This is why I have to get a BMW, because I can't be 31 years old and having punk kids drive around in nicer cars than me!

I wonder what I'll do if I ever have kids. 18 years old is when you really can take advantage having a nice car (seems to get more chicks because of it at that age) but handing a kid a brand new car is not a good way to show responsiblility IMO. I remember the feeling of accomplishment when I bought my first new car at 20 years old (the 92 Sentra SE-R). I was so proud of myself and I worked so hard for it. But someone posted that his hand-me-down Sentra was the worst car he can think of

Oh well, congrats to the dude with the 350Z!

That's what I thought. I loveed that car...used to smoke almost any 6cyl out there. My top speed in that car was 135...I hit the brakes and nothing happened! Too small & hot I guess

agree..
they need a big brake option for that car, lots of power not enough braking mechanism.
