A/F ration gauge install help

Hey guys i finally tapped the autometer air/fule ration gauge into my o2 sensor.

Im using the one in thje front most of a 2002 max on the exhaust manifold.

I tapped into 2 dif. wires. on both ends and they dont seem to be getting the right signal.

Does anyone know which wire its suppose to be tapped into?

ANy help would be appreciated.
Thanks guys

What do you mean by not getting the right signal? You mean the a/f just scrolls back and forth? if that the case then it's correct. A/f is only a light show and really works when going wot.

You are supposed to get the signal from the ECU, not the o2's. Call the Autometer help line, and they will tell you which wire on the ECU to tap. I know the directions say to wire into the o2's, but they are assuming you have a 3 wire Autometer o2. Save yourself the trouble, and call Autometer.

Should be under/behind the radio.

The ECU is behind the center console. Open the passenger's door and look at the center console all the way to the front of the car. There's some black plastic trim with 2 snaps. Remove the trim and there's the ECU.

Do NOT unplug the ECU harness without disconnecting the negative battery cable first, or else you may throw a SES light.

For the 2002, here are the wire locations/colors

The MAF wire is pin #62 (White)
The TACH wire is pin #34 (White/Green stripe)
The POWER wire is pin #110 or #112 (Red/Green Stripe)
The GROUND wire should not be tapped to the ECM ground wires. Use another ground elsewhere
The HEATED O2 SENSOR 1 (Bank 1) is pin #91 (White)
The HEATED O2 SENSOR 1 (Bank 2) is pin #92 (White)
The HEATED O2 SENSOR 2 (Bank 1) is pin #88 (White)
The HEATED O2 SENSOR 2 (Bank 2) is pin #90 (White)

Here's a pinout of the ECU harness:

I also will be buying a A/F meter soon. If you guys can let me know which wires I need to tap into and where they are that would be great. Thanks in advance!

My original post was updated to include the O2 sensor information. There are 2 sensors with 2 banks each. If the unit only taps 1 bank, use bank 1 for each sensor. Sensor #1 is the first sensor, where Sensor #2 is the rear sensor.

wow! thanks for the help,
so what #wire am I suppose to tap into?

As for the progress for the gauge...I redid the wiring and it works....

But the gauge only works to about 3400 RPM, after that it throws that green light again all the way to the right....

dam gauge!
I should just get an etg

This is because at WOT, the ECU does not use the o2's to determine load, so the o2 goes rich, this is normal.

I just tapped the center wire on the right bank O2 and it worked perfectly. There really isn't a need to tap the wire at the ECU.
