I'm going on my 4th mass air flow sensor. I have 29,000 miles on my car, I first one went out at 21,000 miles. The dealer has no idea why they keep going bad. The part that sucks is that the car goes into "limp mode" then driving it sucks, the RPM's don't pass 2200 and if you give it to much gas it will die.
Has this been happening to anyone else?

It seems like every complaint about the MAF has come from someone with an aftermarket intake.

I was driving to Mississippi from California and on the way back my car did the same thing. I couldn't go over 2500 rpms or less than 1000 rpms or the car would die. I pulled over and called a friend that is a mechanic here in Mississippi and he told me to check my mass air flow sensor and my air temperature sensor. So I pulled on them and wiggled them around and then went on my way. The car started to act up again and then it just all of a sudden went back to operating normally. I have never had this problem since. If I were you I would get it checked out somewhere else besides the dealership and get a second opinion. I might not be your mass air sensor! Just an opinion.

mmm...interesting

I also have an aftermarket intake (stillen) and wondering if it would happen to me also (mealsosyndrome!)

Have you attempted to clean the MAF sensor or blow clean air through it??? Just wondering if that would help or avoid the additional purchase of another one.

thats exactly what happened to me...at the time i knew nothing about engines so i brought it into nissan and they told me my intake voided my warranty on the MAF and i would need a new one which cost $800 or so...plus i had to pay them to put all my old intake parts into original working order

I've experienced this as well..

I have a Place Racing CAI, about 10K miles with that intake in place, and recently after driving on the highway and running into some traffic, the CHECK ENGINE light came on, and the car was bogging and wouldnt rev up.. I knew it was something air related because you could smell the gas and the improper mixture taking place..
I disconnected the battery for 5 minutes (after pulling over) and I havent seen the problem since.
