Toyota Echo?!?!? Say what!

So, I'm coming home from joaquinks'(turbo 4th gen) house at about 2:30am after working on his car. As I'm trying to fight to stay awake, I hear something next to me as I pull easily away from a light, screaming his engine. I can't believe this guy wanted to play. Normally, I don't like to pick on little guys, but he was redlining it out of the light. So, I just ran out 1st, shifted to second, and he was way back. Figuring he wasn't serious and had let off, I just cruise. Then I catch the light up ahead and he's ACTUALLY reving, so I look over to see what kind of car it is and if he's just joking but to my he looks DEAD serious. Just then the light changes and he takes off, so I wait/hesitate about a second or two to check for POPO and he's maybe 4-cars out in the intersection and I drop the hammer(didn't launch). By the top of 1st my nose was at his rear door as I heard him shift to second and so did I with a peg leg SCREEECH, then byebye Echo as I about sucked his doors off.

So, do you think he was serious? If so, he must be a moron, because I don't think the Maxima is THAT underrated. Anyways, I just had to laugh at that one, but at least it made me wake up a little for the commute home.

Please no flames for wasting gas on an Echo. I don't get much action around here, so I take what I can get.

Probably the optional mulching kit noise.

Dude...

Yesterday the same thing with me. I was at a light where just past the intersection the two lanes merge into one (the right lane merged into the lane I was in). A Pontiac Grand Am GT pulled up and I could see the look on his face... I was thinking "are you serious?"... so I thought... "yeah, I'm game".

Smoked him outright... my g/f was driving behind me and laughed. She said he was trying and trying... and the Max smoothly launched forward and was gone...

WHY do they even try?

Same here, but with a Hyundai Elantra. I was astonished that he thought he was in a sportscar.

Hi all..

I had the same thing happen to me, but I was the dumb one.. I had started to get a lil over confident I guess you could say.. Beat a '97 Mustang a few days before this incident (must've been a 6)...

So I'm driving up a pretty fast moving highway which has a bunch of lights on it and I pull up next to a similar looking stang except for a really nice paint job.

Well.. I take off (don't think the dude knew I was gonna race) and have about 3 car lengths on him.. All the sudden, this guy just shoots by me. At this point I'm already going about 85, and we were coming to a spot where cops usually hang out, so I let off. All I have to say is he didn't. He must've hit about 110 and was about a football field away from me before he put his hazards on..

I learned my lesson.. Don't mess with Mustangs that might have a bunch of work done under the hood.

Later,
Nick

back when I was younger (and stupider) I used to mess with people in faster cars all the time just to get a reaction out of them. My favorite scenario was one night when I was in my 1978 BMW 320i with 255k miles on it. An NSX pulls up next to me, and I had 3 other people in the car. SO>>...just to embarass them I smoke the tires and look over at the dude at the same time and smile. He gets all ****ed and hammers it when the light turned. I just sat there and laughed.

What a good use of tires, huh??

echo

I've heard that you should not play with your food before you eat it.
And an Echo tastes really bad.

I've had kids in their Mom's minivan want to race.

Don't do it, they might try to excede their driving abilities and get wraped around a telephone pole.

But, a good spanking never hurt a brat in a POS.
