Very important light bulb thread

I'm posting this for the second time because my computer just locked up.

Anyways...

One of my rear turn signal lights burned out and I went to walmart earlier today and bought bulbs to replace it. I got the clear ones instead of the amber ones because I liked the color much better. 1156 for those wondering. Now to install these bulbs you have to shave one of the nipples off the side. I got the right one installed and it worked fine. I got the left one installed and tested it and it didn't light up. I twisted the harness off again and then the bulb fell in between the hole and the half moon turn signal part. I tried pulling it out with my finger and it didn't work the opening was too small. Then I started using some things around the house to get it out.

1. Spoon: The head of the spoon was too big for the opening. (no i'm not being perverted)
2. Fork: What was I going to do with that jab it?
3. Cable tie. I figured if i got the cable tie in I would loop it around the bottom and pull it out.
4. Wire. I was gonna fish it out like that didin't work.
5. Tweezer: The tweezer was too short to get the bulb.
6. Chopsticks: The opening was too small to get the bulb out.

Then I got smart and thought that If i had one of those darts from a plastic dart gun I can just attatch it on and get it out. It was too late to go anywhere and get one.
So I decided to get a string and chew some gum and get it out that way. After about 20 tries I get it out.

Now you guys are wondering why I didn't just take the assembly apart and get it out. It didn't occur to me until after I was done.

Four solutions to do when this happens to you.
1. Don't drop the bulb in there.
2. Take the assembly apart save yourself an hour and half.
3. Get a plastic dart gun dart.
4. Gum with string.

I feel like a

Hope this helps or make you guys laugh.

I was replacing my light bulb too, and it fell in the housing. I couldn't get it out. So it's still in there rolling around. Thanks for your post, now I have some ideas to take it out.

I dropped a 1157 bulb in the front blinker assembly one time lol. To get it out i took a screwdriver and put a piece of folded duct tape on the end of it and stuck it in the assembly and got the bulb stuck on the tape then pulled it out. haha that was a fun time.

i don't understand how the opening is big enough to allow bulb to fall inside, but too small to allow you to pull it out with chopsticks.

but yeah, buy a telescoping magnet. those things come in pretty handy, more often then you would anticipate. you can buy a small, pen size one for like a buck in the discount bin at an auto store. or you can get one of those huge ones, that can pick up like a civic. i've got the cheap one and there hasn't been a single thing i dropped that i couldn't get with it.

OR you can just buy a bulb from your local Nissan dealer... at about $3.00 a pop. That's what my friend had to do when he fixed my car.
