Air Box Mod
Air Box Mod
Has anyone considered using a modified version of the stock air box mod? Instead of just cutting the slit in the top of the air box, maybe a spring loaded flap (like what is used in the muffler) could be designed and then installed. I think that this variation "should" provide more low end torque and a quieter ride at low rpms, but as the intake vacuum increases with increasing engine rpm, the flap will open and let in more air which will help create more high end horse power and torque . . .

You should make that and then sell it, but I highly doubt anybody had even thought about that. Good luck!

Would you agree with my analysis though?
Ur analysis is correct, but the gains arnt gonna be up to what u expect. If ur driving a 3.5 ur gonna notice little to no diff anyway since ur got so much low-end torque. The flap is gonna cost more then u think to make but the end result is gona be not enough bang 4 the buck to it wont be a big hit. But u are correct but only to a certain extent. If u want more low-end power, just have ur timing advance 3degeree. The comp will allow the car to hold the advance til around 3000rpms which will give a slight boost in the low end w/o any effect in the hi end due to the variable valve timing. Now if u got the 3.0 thats a diff story. Btw most any intake isnt too loud at all til u get on it, especially this setup. Drive like a sane person and ull never know its there.
