Bug and tar remover (use lots of it, and let it sit for as long as 60 seconds ...make sure you're in the shade)....

if that doesn't work...use an S.O.S. pad...very gently...with lots and lots of water...

Concentrated windshield washer fluid. It only runs about $.99. Takes off bugs, tar, tree sap, and about anything else. It won't hurt the paint at all. I would recommend doing it before a wash though. All it takes, is a little rubbing.

GOOD LORD, NO! Talk about paint swirls...

Use a rubbing compound like 3M has or use a tiny bit of gasoline (just wash your car afterwards).

Go with a claybar and never look back.

You can get the Mothers Claybar and spray bottle for $20 at Pep Boys.
It is worth it.

I used the castrol grease remover and it did wonders. But later I realized that it changed the shade of the color. . So now I just use the regualar car wash and rub hard as heck to get them out!

I tried the bug and tar removal stuff and it didn't work. I scrubbed really hard and waited a coule minutes after spraying it on. The bugs are from last summer and seem to be permanently embedded in the paint. Is there any hope? I'm gonna try everyone's responses, so thanks.

Yep, gotta love Houston bugs. Some are so big you would swear they show up on radar and/or need regitration numbers. It certainly does seem like their bodies actually pit the paint. I had the same problem until I recently had my bumper replaced due to a minor traffic ooops (mutual responsibility so no big horror story). It will be interesting to see how long this one lasts.

Use Mayonnaise, put it on heavily, let it sit about 1/2 an hour. I read it online somewhere....

I use a pair of my girl's pantyhose. It works great. I know it doesn't seem like they would, but they do.

I don't think that mayonnaise is such a good idea since mayo. contains eggs and everyone knows eggs will ruin your paint.
