New plugs = SES light?
New plugs = SES light?..Got the code!!!
Put new NGK plugs in yesterday. Today the SES light turns on, any relation? There is no misfire, coil packs are on tight, runs very strong.
Any ideas?

P0138 = rear heated O2 sensor (fed spec emissions)... indicates the sensor is not reaching full voltage... I would just reset the thing and see if it comes back... this sensor only checks for the presence of a main cat and does not control A/F ratios as long as your front sensors are still working.

Good question! Maybe there is a fundamental confusion of the use of the term 'gapping'. Some may consider it only when you actually change the gap on the plug. Others may use the term to cover the use of a gapping tool to double check the gap even if no actual change is made. I fall into the latter category.
The plugs are copper and they were VERY close to stock gap. I don't think any of them needed much adjustment. I assume them being copper I could have gone a little larger on the gap as well but didn't.

Yes, check even when new and EVEN when they say pre-gapped. Doesn't take much of a tap to move them around...
Couldn't hurt, right?

I just dont understand why anybody would NOT check this? It takes less than 10 seconds to check a plug. So why risk an improper gapped plug and take the "box's" word that its correct?
