AAMAX

I have 03 Maxima SE and have found a fracture on my tail light lense with a paint chip on trunk lid in coresponding area. With trunk closed is seems to have enough clearance so I applied touch up paint to chip and closed trunk and a impression of wet paint was on lense. I wonder if this will be an on going problem with this car or if something can be done to prevent this from happening. I have not yet taken the problem to the service department to see what they will say or do about it, can anyone give me some advise on this problem? Do you think this is something that would be considered defect / warranty? I will appreciate any input on this I can get.
