He just bought it tonight and picks it up next week. He claims he'll be able to at least run even with me if not even take me in the 1/4. What's the deal, does he have a chance? SpecV is a very nice car by the way, love the way it handles--I'd consider it for a 2nd car.

It is a nice car, although the Max should beat it. I'd like to hear the outcome if you do.

He's screwed. Stock vs. stock, you should have him by almost a half second in the quarter mile.

What is your bud on, they run 15's and have a much lower trap speed than you do. A 4th gen or early 5th gen should be able to edge those out as well you should kill him pretty bad.

My brother used to have a Spec-V. He told me the same thing and I have him a head start and I still beat him. The Spec-V does 0-60 in like 7.2 seconds.

lets see... stock 2k2 6spd dynos 200-210 whp. I've seen modded specV's dyno 130-150 whp... pretty sorry (nissan overrated hp once again). Both of you got hlsd, you got a crap load more torque... bahh....

you'll kill him. Put some money on it so you can buy yourself a steak dinner afterwards.

impressive numbers on your specV. Another note to make on the modded specV that I saw was that it was run on the Stillen dyno machine, notorious for putting out lower than average numbers.

Now remove those worthless balance shafts and free up some hp.

I test drove a SpecV. I was dissapointed in the QR25. Stock for stock a VQ35 will slaughter a QR25.

Your brother in law has to be yanking your chain. The Spec V cant even run with the top cars in its class (the RSX-S, Celica GT-S and Jetta GLX/Golf GTI come to mind), let alone the likes of 2K2+ Maximas.

Don't get me wrong, I like the SE-R Spec V and I'm considering purchasing one as a beater. However, the 2K2 Maxima (auto or 6speed) outerperforms it in just about EVERY category with the exception of fuel economy and insurance cost.

Peace.

I would agree wholeheartedly with the exception of insurance cost. I am of the opinion that the Spec V would cost more to insure because of repair costs and if the car gets hit, more of it would get damaged than the maxima which in turn would yield a more costly repair.

Just my $.02!

Yeah - u'd wish insurance folks use their brains - but we all know what they have for brains

Ah - u have a 255hp car - well that exceeds our "safe" 75hp limit - so u pay more.
Ah - u broke a stupid and unsafely slow speed limit ( just to be safe ) - pay up !
Ah - u are less than 50 - well u are screwed.
Ah - u don't own a home - tsk tsk sad news
Ah - u don't garage ur car .....

well the list goes on ....

I'm just another of those folks hit by a random insurance premium increase

There are SO MANY factors that go into insurance costs: age, gender, marital status, domicile, insured's insurance history, etc,...

In general, the Spec V wont cost more to insure than a 2K2 Maxima. But, that's a topic for a different thread.

You will have him by a full second on the 1/4 mile!!!

By the way, what did he drive before he got the Spec V? There is always a reason people think a 15 second car is fast.

He's got a Ranger. I don't thinks he thinks the V is fast, just that he might have a chance.

Thanks to those that replied, I guess I don't have to fear him unless he gets I/E upgrades.

Cheers.
