Question on MAF failure
Question on MAF failure
Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum and I need help. I had an INJEN CAI installed with an AEM bypass valve. During the installation, the MAF was accidentaly dropped on a table. After installation was done, the "service engine soon" light came on. We tried re-setting it 3 times and it wouldnt go off. I started the car and I can actually rev the car (while it was in P) passed 4500 rpm and sounded really nice. Anyways, I then took the car out for a drive...acceleration was great and exceeds 5000rpm. Here's comes the problem, I went onto the freeway going 70+mph and floored the gas trying to speed up and it wouldnt. I can hear the intake groan but the rpm gauge was only at 2800rpm and wouldnt go any further....so, did the MAF gone bad? or was it something else? Before the intake installation, the car would speed up no problem on the freeway and have never floored it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

if you cant rev above 2800 then the maf is bad. you can switch back to stock and attempt to have it replaced under warranty or you can purchase one from dave b here and do it yourself. what year max do you have? 2k2? maf sometimes act up before they die and that may have been what triggered the light then at full throttle on the highway, it just gave out.

Hi, the weird part is that after i got off the highway, i was able to rev over 4000rpm again on accelerations multiple times...just that i cannot get the same pull i used to get with the stock air box at higher speed...Hmm...I'm frustrated.
