Converting GXE taillights to SE

Converting GXE taillights to SE
I've got a 2000 GXE with stock tail lights. I prefer the look of the SE tail lights. Does anyone know if it is possible to disassemble the tail lights the same way you disassemble the head lights (250 degrees for 8 minutes)?
I was thinking if I could get them pulled apart I could mask and paint the internal surfaces to match that of the SE lights.
Has anyone written up a procedure for this?
Thanks,
Jacob

Re: Converting GXE taillights to SE
nope, you'd melt the housing before you got a chance to separate them. the glue enforcig the 2 pieces together is stronger.
find someone to swap with or get down and dirty and start dremeling away.

You guys are thinking about this too much. Look at the tail lights on my webpage, these are GXE tail lights which I spray painted to look like SEs. They look really good, and cost about 11 dollars for masking tape, black spray paint, and clear coat.

VERY nice, low tech alternative.

Wait wait wait, you painted those tails? I think not. Anyways, the tails were taken out and we masked the area of the brake light and the turn signal. The easiest way to do this was by shining a flashlight through the holes where the bulbs were. That lit up the area that needed to be covered. Then we sanded down the area to be painted, and used a flat black spray paint. Let that dry and then two coats of clear coat to finish it off.
