Need a "how to" for a ghetto box install

Directions
GAB for 2k.
Cut the top of the filter holder to the spot that holds the filter (you'll see when you look at it.) Remove the elbow that connects to the resonator underneath the stock air intake scoop. Buy some 4" clothes dryer vent tubing and connect that to the hole where the elbow attached to the stock scoop and route that tube to the bottom of the front bumper for a cold air tube. Then get a K&N panel filter for the best airflow.
Shows what it looks like completed. This shows where the cut of the air filter holder piece is. Hopefully that all makes sense. It's really not all that difficult.

So I need to get the 3-3 coupler and some 3 inch dryer tubing? I have seen the coupler at home depot, i got to find the tubing and i'll be all set. Any reason not to use the OEM filter with the ghetto air box setup?

You get rid of the elbow and connect it directly to the inlet. Use a 3" coupler with clamps on each end. You can get it in the plumbing dept for like $6 at Home Depot.

Also, add in the decreased likliehood of blown MAFs and you've got a winner.

I figured it out. I think I have the wrong size K&N filter because it doesn't touch those tabs. But the answer is that the ribbed side is out and the filter is on the inside of the holder.

BTW- Dave, what did you run the ooglie air duct hose from? Our intakes are different than the 2K's. My 2K had the elbow joint. My 2K2 one doesn't.

I got rid of the resinator elbow last night. I don't have a close dryer pipe thingy (I thought I did) so I have to go out and buy one . But still, the intake sound different without the elbow .
P.S. The only way to take out the intake resinator is to take out the battery right??? I have an auto tranny and there's a stupid wire thiungy magigy in the way.

New harness for what? You've got a bunch of the same crap I do... If all else fails with the resonator just pull. You dont need it. There shouldnt be anything you need to mess with under the bumper.
