ATF for '03 ?

My '03 SE owners manual says use Nissan ATF?

I have a Hayden cooler to install, and want to know, what type of ATF should I top off the trany with after the install?

What is the best "dino" after market fluid?
Does the Max use Dextron IV?

I only have 4000 miles, so I am not ready to do a full flush.

How long do I have to wait (break in) before I switch to synthetic ATF?

Thanks!

dexron/mercon III or IV will work fine for it. i dont know the best aftermarket oil for the tranny but ive never had a problem with havoline. i switched to mobil 1 at around 25k but i would imagine around the same time most switch to synthetic motor oil would be fine. so i would say around 10k unless anyone else has another idea.
