CD Track/Title diplay revisted

This subject has been discussed before but after my first trip to the dealer for scheduled maintenance I'm confused. When I dropped off the car I asked the service writer to check why the Bose would not display the CD track and title information. When I picked up the car he said he read the maunual instructions, tried it himself, couldn't get it to work, and called his Nissan Factory contact. The reply from Nissan was that this feature does not work and that this is normal. Sounds like BS to me. Does anyone have a particular CD title that does display the track and title information? I've tried a lot of CDs new and old and none display the track and title.
Thanks
BruceB

What a bunch a bull!

Well, the whole RDS thing doesn't really work. It displays call letters on stations that are sending an RDS signal, but that's about it. I don't think american stations are really using the technology.

Why can't Bose/Nissan put an owners manual together that tells one how to make the unit's features work?

I always burn CDs with info writting enabled. So when I play them in winamp or windows media player, the tracks are titled, but when I put those same CDs into the BOSE, there's no info displayed.

Do I have to press some button to display track/artist info? I was under the impression that our BOSE doesn't come with that feature.

The RDS is **** basically. In my area (Boston, MA), only a few select stations are using it, and it's no big deal. Not a useful feature at all.

I had this problem in the beginning too because I wasn't burning the CDs properly. I also use Roxio and the CD-text feature does work, you just have to make sure that when burning the CD you set whatever software you are using to the "Disc-At-Once" recording mode and not the "Track-at-Once" mode.

You have to press the "PTY" (I think thats the button, it's one with an odd name) and the menu will cycle through, "Disc Title", "Track Title" and "Title off". Also, the titles don't scroll. So you are allowed 8 characters at a time. There is another button that makes it scroll manually.

Ok, thanks. I'm going to try this out later on.

swallac2, is right. You hit the "PTY" button and it will display the text of the CD. And if you hit the button directly across(the left) from the PTY button that will manually scroll the text. I just wish there was a way to have the system automatically scroll.

Ya no doubt. I stopped putting CD text onto my CD's because it doesn't scroll and I'm sick of trying to shorten every name down to 8 characters.

The problem with mine is that when you push the "PTY" button the display says "NO DISC TITLE", press it again it says "NO TRACK TITLE" for every CD. The service writer had the same thing happen after he tried it. When he called Nissan they told him this was normal and the the CD text feature doesn't work. It sounds like only mine doesn't work. What CDs have you used that do display the CD text?
Thanks

The only CD's that I found to work are the ones I burned myself. I haven't found a store bought one (new or old) that will display its information.

The Audioslave CD works in my 2k2...only one I've found so far to do so.
