Okay I must be a moron, when I installed my RSB I simply could not figure out where to put the jackstands. I looked in the manual and all it showed is where to jack up the car with the "jack" that comes with it.

you can put the jackstands where you would normally put your stock jack too. but i personally like placing the jackstands where the control arms are connected to the car.. teh hinge part. again i may be wrong but that's how i've been doing it for a while and no bends or dents on my car fromt eh jack stands.

The problem is.. the little notches where the jack goes, I can't fit the jackstands if the jack is there. Or can they go anywhere on that lip?

oh i forgot to mention that i have a 3.5 ton hydrolic jack.. sorry bout that. in that case jack it up by where the maual says. and slide the jack stands under where the control arm hinge is. that should be a jack point.

So I'm still stupid. I do have a floor jack butt I'm not sure where to use it... on a rwd you'd normally use the differential right? But since we have fwd all that's back there is the beam and I started to use that and it looked wrong so I backed it down.

i know on hondas you can jack up the rear using the floor jack on the tow hook. but i think with the maxima our spare tire well would cave in.. so i say, jacke one side of the car up first (right our left) place the jack on the metal peice in the rear (where the stock jack goes) lower it. move to the other side. do the same thing. then go to the front and u'll jack it up from that \_/ looking peice on the frame int he middle of the car. in between the tranny and motor. and u jack it up from there both sides (left and right) should then come off the ground walk around and place the jack stands on.. but i personally would hate to work on a car on just jack stands although i do it quiet often. i dont' like the feeling of a car smashing down on me.

It's not like I'm under it all the time. I agree cars are large and heavy. I would squish quite easily. The only time I needed to get it up was to do the RSB and I ended up doing that one side at a time while it was on the jack (and all my body parts were kept clear from being under the car).

Don't use a floor jack on the factory jack points - the edges of the cup will fold the lip!!!!! I use a plastic block with a slot that fits on the lip, the block fits in the cup of the jack. JC Whitney is the only place I've seen them, but it wouldn't be too hard to make the same thing out of wood. The slot in the top has to be wide enough for the lip and deep enough so the sides contact the rocker. The suspension mounting points are definitely the best places for the jackstands.
