Are trying to have light still shine through? You can paint the lens any color you choose. I will be experimiting with this weekend to see which one looks best.

How many f-in times are you gonna call these tails ricey. We all hear your opinion, and its obvious that we don't care. He is not going to stop the production of the tails because you think they are ricey. If this thread compels you so greatly to reply with the word rice everytime you enter, then just don't enter.

wow...I really like the blue tinting to match the car.....

I'd love to do mine in red with sterling mist tinting

Jessa--use Testor's candy red transparent spray paint. You can buy it in Pearl Art (if you are familiar with Nassau)

Maxima Zero I love those pics, you are correct their are so many possibilities once you get them open. I think the body colored tails will look better on dark colored cars and the chrome and smoke will look better on light colored cars. We have some of the same ideas. I'm not going to leave the tails all clear they were just to test fitment. My goal is to go with the red/clear lens for right now.

You cannot crack them open!

It doesnt work, Emax has tried on multiple pairs, I tried on one light and others tried last year as well. These are not like Other tailights. They just crack in half, there is NO give in the plastic.

But good luck trying if you want.

I want to try to remove the orange part of my tail lights.
Does anyone have any instructions on how to take it out safely?

Take out the light bulb from inside. Grab some transleucent red paint (Vans tailight paint works well) and spray it inside the hole for the light. Spray it in thin layers. Takes about 6-8 times to match it up right.

I suggest doing it in sunlight so you get a good look at the color blend to match it up right.

There is no way to "crack" the lens housing. Paint is the best way.

Yes, VANS is the brand name. Only comes in Japanese writing and kinda tough to find. Yahoo shopping had it and NOPI online had it before. Good luck

You can open up the taillights but you will be breaking them technically. Like I said before it requires you to dremel or saw between the gap, this is the hardest part because if you mess up you will break the outer clear lens. If you do it correctly you will not be able to tell it was opened. I recommend you use a handsaw or a real small drill bit. When it is time to re-seal it, sand the edges to remove some of the rough plastic edges and use clear sealant around the gap. The first one I broke the lens using the dremel, moving too fast and the bit took away to much plastic. The second is almost perfect, literally you will have to be real close to see that something was done. I don't have a digital camera yet(spending money on mods) to take updated pics but should have one about a week, bought one on HSN. Maximazero, the only one I don't like is the 2nd on the top row, reminds me too much of the 00/01 GXE tails. If you are willing to put your Hids in an oven to open them up, you can do this, just be careful.

The half red/half clear lights are clean. They would definitely be a must have for me if they were produced. Maybe some company would be willing to do these changes on our stock 2k2 tails for a fee. I'd definitely be down if it wasn't an outrageous price.

I was talking to Nick at Definitive Motorsports about making the lens, and he is stating around $60-$80 for the set. I sent him my original lens to make an OEM one, the ones you see in the pics is the one he sent me to test fit. He stated is possible to get it in red but it will not have a pattern, just plain like plexi-glass. For those who do not want to spend that type of money you can go Lowes/Home depot and get the clear plastic sheet that goes over office fluorescent lights, the plastic is very similar. This is what I'm using now to make a couple of different colored lens. I will wait on Nick so that I can have an OEM fit one.

Just to let you guys know, I have some updated pics of the cleared taillights. I e-mailed them to Playero who put them on his website, here is the link: http://maxima.cardomain.com/member_p...=301033&page=2

I did the red/clear lens and a all red lens. I smoked the outer lens for you guys who was curious on how that would look. I used 1 coat of Testors smoke paint and it is real dark, I personally don't like it. If someone who can post pics can install them on this thread, I will e-mail them to you. Thanks.

I don't know about the smoke. They almost looked bronzed. I'm waiting to see one that is red/clear with the gray part painted black. I think with the clear plastic over top that will look tight. Especially if one has done the same to thier HID's.
