Ahem.. not that simple...
I heard you can do it, but because of the metalized film in tint the extreme heat can cause the sunroof to shatter.

I asked when I had mine done... he laughed and said "who told you that?!" ... basically he said "not true."Originally posted by PiotrC70

Got mine done.
I may do it too. Mirror tint would be nice. Weird how our's didn't come tinted from the factory. My buddy's GTP has a tinted sunroof from the factory.
I decided not to have mine tinted. If I want no sunlight I can close the lid. If I want sunlight I can open it. I don't want to have to open the sunroof just to get sunlight.

Yes. It allows me to have the sunshade open with the roof closed. Since I'm in Florida, I had to have it tinted. Otherwise, the sunroof would be completely useless in the daytime for 3/4 of the year.

I have heard this from 3 different tint shops. No one would do it for me locally.Originally posted by PiotrC70

Maybe it is because Arizona has really extreme heat, but I have heard of this happening on multiple occassions.

I've lived in AZ pretty much all my life and most of it in Bullhead City, AZ. It doesn't get any hotter than BHC, besides Death Valley where nobody lives! I've never even heard of that happening to anyone I know. I've heard of lots of leaky sunroofs from the seals drying out, but never one shattering.Originally posted by asu174

My sunroof has lived through 125*F temps, so far.

because sunshade=no sun and 15% tint=ENOUGH sun but not too hot.Originally posted by 92 SE-R 02 SE

So I can drive around with SOME light shinning through, so I don't feel like I got ripped on the $1800 C&C package I was FORCED to buy.Originally posted by 92 SE-R 02 SE

Also, 5-billion watts blaring onto my face/glasses gets annoying fast.

I got mine tinted with a 20% Mirror. It works great b/c I can leave it cracked up and when I come out I can sit in the car (Black Leather) and not burn myself. I have a friend who has grey leather in his accord and his sunroof is just a regular 20% and his is hotter than mine is.

And the dealer told me about sunroofs shattering, so I checked with Solar Gard (makes the tint). They said it doesn't happen, so...thought I'd try it.
Exactlly my thoughts!

That's not really how it works. I have 18%, and you can see through it just fine (the sky is a little darker blue...). When the sun is shining through it, it's bright but not blinding, and not uncomfortably hot. Originally posted by SR20DEN

In the South, it's really the only way to allow sunlight in; without tint, it's too hot.
Thanks for your responses guys.
I was feeling a little left out when I saw honda and lexus sunroofs tinted. Probably another mistake from Nissan. So they probably told dealers a made up story to tell all of their customers why it's not tinted.

I was going to tint it, but decided not to because I live in a place where tint on the front 2 windows is illegal. So, if I ever drive next to cops and feel nervous that I can get a ticket, all I have to do it open the slide for the sunroof, and a lot more light comes in.
