I have no impressive mods, with the exception of the Double-velocity high/low-end turbo accelerator VX-6000 CHIP, which is manufacured by MaxMimMods-R-Us, Inc. (huh?) Just kidding of course.

You all have convinced me of the fun involved, so I think I'm ready. For starters, what should I buy for performance and where? I'm looking for a slight hp increase, something noticable. I see a lot of you guys have a Stillen y-pipe. How does that work, where can I buy, how much, how does the install work, etc.? How do I protect my warranty?

I've read many posts discussing all of these issues (not trying to beat a dead horse here), but as someone new to the mod thing, I really didn't understand a lot of the jargon, technical stuff, etc. I want to understand!! Please help me get started. Thanx.

I have a question too. Can I buy the shifter from the AE and stick it on a GLE? Anyone know the price? Will the dealer sell it?

Sounds like a lot of people are having problems with the AE shifter fitting on. Certainly not as easy as "just pop it in"

Try a search for "AE shifter."

As for first mods, I haven't gotten started myself, but it sounds like intake is the place to start:

A few HP gain, easy install, small investment. And you can take it off fairly easily and return to stock if you have to take your max in (i.e., protect warranty.)

JWT Popcharger (intake)= $120 at courtesy nissan.

Throw together an intake and a y-pipe and you should see some nice gains. The Y-pipe appears to be an intermediate level install (I don't have one myself) lots of people put it on w/o problems, some (irvine78 recently) have had lots of problems. Since its not street legal you have to find the right place to install it.

If you just want something easy to do yourself, get a pop charger or stillen intake. Though other than the noise you probably won't notice much of a performance. increase

Legal Y-Pipe

Are all the Y-Pipes with no cats? Can I get one with cats?
I was able to get a y-pipe for my SHO with high flow cats.

Both Stillen and Cattman are for "offroad use only". I've heard rumors of other companys producing some but who knows.
