Yokohama AVS ES100 Guys?
I'm trying to get a little insight on these tires. My wife has the Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus on her car right now. They are in need of replacement and i want to get her something a little more performance oriented. Would the ES100 be a good replacement? I've read all the reviews and testing info but i wanted to hear it straight from people that drive on them daily.
Thanks
Thanks

I don't have them on my car but scott(2k2SEmax) has them on his car and they seem to have great dry traction and fairly quiet. Hopefully he sees this thread and can answer any questions you might have.

I've had these tires for about 3 months or so now. I did a lot of research and tire comparisons before deciding on these tires. Going from the stock Potenzas to these tires has been a huge relief. I bought them as a package deal with my new wheels. I have the 235-40-18 tires. They have excellent wet and dry traction. They also corner / grip exceptionally. The ride is very comfortable and they aren't loud at all. Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchased especially since they didn't cost too much. I must caution, if you're looking for an All Season tire, then this isn't the tire for you. They perform well in wet and dry conditions however they suck in snow in ice. I wasn't too worried about this since I live in the south and we rarely see snow and ice. If you have any other specific questions, feel free to ask me.

Thanks Scott! Sounds like the ES100 will be a good choice. I live in Florida, so all season tires are not needed. Only two of her tires really need replaced but i want to get her something better. 4 ES100's are only $70 more than two MXV4's.

I purchased these also with my wheels through tirerack. These are excellent tires for the price. Their traction and handling are excellent, but what I like the most is their high speed stability. The rubber compound is pretty soft so don't expect them to last 30K+ miles, but for that price you can't go wrong with them.

What size are you planning to get, if you are plainning to get it for stock replacement 225-50-17. I dont think they make that size. I think the closest is 225/45/17. I am not sure how much of a spedometer error you will get with that size.

I have the 235/45/17 on my stock wheels w/o any problems. Its alot more stable on the freeway/highway. Corners better and cuts through water alot better then the crap potenza's I had. Ive had them for like 2 months how and no complaints. Quieter then the stock tires and definetly more stable.

i've got a full set of the ES100s now. it's my fourth set of tires in 87000 miles
.
the other's i've gone thru were the stock potenzas, yokohama avs intermediates, and the bf goodrich g-force kdw, with the bfgs immediately preceeding my current yokos. all the non oem tires were in the 235/45/17 size.
the es100s are a good dry tire, no doubt. wet traction is of course better than stock, but not nearly as good as the bfgs were. i'm in southern california, so i don't really need too much of a wet tire tho. they are reasonably quiet considering their z-rated grip. only a slight humming when cruising, less than bfgs but more than stock. volume increases considerably when braking however. one thing i did notice is that the es100s track quite easily. more so than my previous tires, which is a bit disconcerting at times but not unmanagable.
you can push these tires fairly far (i've only done so in the dry). but when they break traction, they do so with little warning. minimal squeal, and then they're loose.
overall the es100's a bargain for what you get, but that's increased performance with a noticeable tradeoff in comfort. for us on the board that may not be an issue, but it might be for your wife.
