mpg after intake...
mpg after intake...
I've got 1500 miles on the car and since I drove it off the dealer lot the mpg I got progressively worsened from 25 mpg to 17 mpg... How horrendous, i average 250 miles a tank. I saw on other posts people with 350~400 a tank! I'm not exactly a lead foot driver but I do give it the gas a lot... rpms hover from 2500~4000 when I accelerate. I did install an intake at 800 miles. Is there any explanation? Oh and I do 60% of my driving on local streets. Should I even be concerned?

If you search on this, you will find numerous threads that contain several references to engine operating temp and mileage.
I'm using the middle grade fuel, 89 octane and I'm averaging low 20s for mpg. I drive about 260-280 miles before I fill up and it usually takes 12-13 gallons. I never run it down to empty before I fill it.
My driving is mostly city and I don't have a lead foot although I do get on it occassionally.

You shouldn't be using 89 octane... The manuel even recommends 91 octane and above.. I religously use 93 octane all the time. My drive mostly highway miles and get about 360+ to a tank. And I'm SC'd
Believe it or not with the intake you should acutally get better gas mileage. But then again most ppl like the roar or an intake so they get heavy foot sydrome.

Re: Re: mpg after intake...
I get around 25, commuting 60 miles to work. Try a long trip, taking it easy and see what you get. If you get over 25, than it is your driving....
BTW. I just tried a tank of 87, and I experience no ill effect whatsoever.
I think the car will adjust the timing to the octane you use. My manual clearly states you CAN use down to 87.
I used to have a Renault, that did ping like crazy when I used 87. So I know the sound. I hear none of that with the Max.
