Indiglo doorsills
I know that a couple of people here have indiglo door sills in there maxima's. I order a set and thought that it would be a simple hook up. Boy was I wrong!! Don't know where to wire these stupid things and I want to get them on my car asap. I want to wire them up so that the only come on when a door is opened, kind of like the door lights. If anybody has a write up or can offer help please enlighten the rest of us because I know a couple of us out there still have them laying around cus we could not figure out how to hook them up.

my thread. unanswered as well. conact y2ksteve i think it is...Look in the link. And when you get insturction. If you could be so kind to pelase post them
Thanks !
One more thing... I know that they wire can be tapped into the lights on the door themselves But id rather no run a wire through the door and go through the panel and all that crap. Any other alternatives?
Thanks

Research is knowledge. And knowledge is power. Don't skip the research part. Check and double-check your work (and these instructions). Ask questions. Be informed. Do it right the first time.......
Well, here's one way of how to do this. Note that this requires some knowledge of diodes though. Check with someone who has an ESM for your year for the the color code and pin number.
For the 2002:
Pin 32 - Front Step Lamp (Red/White Stripe) - Shows 0V when door is open, +12v when door is closed
1) Solder some wire to a diode.
2) Lay the diode over a zip tie to allow for strength.
3) Make a mark to indicate which side of the diode has a stripe.
4) Protect the diode using heat shrink (preferred) or electrical tape (be sure that you know which end has the stripe).
5) Attach the non-striped end to pin 32 of the SECU.
6) Attach the striped end to pin 85 of a relay.
7) Attach a good fused power source to pins 30 and 86 of the relay. This wire will provide power to the indiglo door lights.
8) Attach a wire to pin 87 of the relay and wire it up to your +12v input on the indiglo door lights.
9) Connect the ground wire from the indiglo door lights to a ground in the car. Do not use the relay or the SECU for a ground. There is a good ground available just to the left of the fuse box in the cabin.
Note: Step 7 MUST BE FUSED. Do NOT skip the fuse for any reason.
They should only light up when the door step lights are on. If your relay has pin 87a, it will not be used. Just wrap it up so that it doesn't touch anything.
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for the accuracy of these instructions. Please check your car personally, and verify that the information above is correct before proceeding. Use a Digital MultiMeter (DMM) to verify the wires BEFORE tapping them. You have been warned.

Dude, YOU are the freakin best.

If I read correctly the indiglo lights come with two wires. 1 for 12v and one for GND.
It requires a lot more work but yields an easier wiring. I would take off the inner lining of the door and locate the 2 wires powering the door lamp. This lamp already has the proper logic.
Then wire the 12v wire of the indiglo to the 12v side of the door lamp. And the ground of the indiglo to the other side of the door lamp. Of course it would require extending the wires and snaking it thru the rubber tunnel in the door. Or tracing the wires inside and tap the there and snake them into the footstep.

I strongly doubt an extra bulb in parallel will pull more than a few hundred mA's. And if it does pull too much current, the fuse protecting the circuit will do it's job.
Also the current can be re-engineered by adding a resistor in series afterwards to reduce the current to something safe.
