Definitely do a search for this, there's all kinds of information about it, I would search for "AE Pedal Install" or something like that.

I just did mine today on a 2002. I can save you the hastle of taking the whole accelerator out. Just remove the black clip on the back of the pedal and the pedal will swing forward, then slide it out. Then put the new one in, in reverse steps. Only took me 5 minutes.

the pedals on a 2000-2001 and 2002-2003 maximas are different. you guys have electronic throttle i believe, while we 00-01 drivers are old school. it's a different setup when taking off the gas pedals on our cars. its actually a real pain in the butt and i actually just have the AE brake pedal installed on my 01 b/c i havent figured out yet how to take off the gas pedal. there's a little white o-clip that's causing all the problems too.

For 2000-2001 you pull the white clip straight back towards the seat then
pull the pedal down so the steel line comes out of cut-out.

Yup, there is a wrong (hard) way and a right way to install the pedal. I recommend the right way Do not try to force the white clip into place. Just set it in front of the notch and when you push down on the pedal, it will go into place.
