Throttle body cleaning

I am about to clean my max's throttle body. I look at the website motor something that has how to clean the TB on the max. Well it never says if u shouldhave the car running when u spray the butterfly? can anyone shed some light... or is this a plainly obvious question I should have known|?

I personally spray the cleaner in a paper towel, then clean the TB. I open the door with a screw driver while cleaning inside.

some products state to keep the engine running and keep a hole small enough to put the straw in. i personally spray a cloth then hand clean it. then i open up the intake just to keep the straw in and i work the throttle to push it through.

I've done it with the engine on, i think is better the smoke comes out and then your car kinds of idle different smoother or just take the whole cover and do it manually... the spray said do it with the engine running i think Bigdoggjonx did the same and nothing out of the ordinary happens.. my .03

Well I guess I am gonna try it with the car off. to clean most of it and then turn it on and spray some stuff in it as the final cleaning. I used to just spray a lot of carb cleaner into the TB on my old honda accord while it was running. So I was wonderin when people were talkin about that u could mess up some circuit if u sprayed that in the TB.

if im not mistaken, most older hondas dont have maf so they wont stall if you remove the intake tube. i wouldnt spray intake cleaner near the maf sensor espically if you have a 5th gen. some 4th gens clean theirs but on the product i use it says specifically not to spray any sensors.

Well I plan on taking off the whole intake and tubing to the TB(where the MAF is at right?) to get access to the TB. I was meaning spraying the Stuff into the throttle body doesnt hurt any type of seonsors. I have no clue. I am still used to workin on good ol' carbeurated engines instead of these high tech VQ

just keep on spraying into the TB with a towel under it. Soon as the dirt stops coming out, you stop spraying.
