Q on idle adj
I removed the throttle body yesterday to clean it, and as I suspected, the idle was thrown off. Should I adj. the idle so it as 1k or 500 at idle? There are two cables, so do I adj. the one that open and closes the throttle, or adj. the cable next to it?

those cables will only adjust the tension. the top cable is the accelerator if im not mistaken. just pop the hood and tap the gas and watch which one moves. the only way to adjust idle is hook it up to a consult 2 machine which can be found at your local nissan dealer or if you are lucky a local nissan specific shop.

OMFG! Thats a hack way of adjusting your idle! and your gonna bugger something up that way. Chances are if your not idling around 650 rpm there is something wrong... MAF, vacuum leak etc... My suggestion is to put your cable back the way it was ASAFP!

That cable will expand when it's hot idle goes low, and contract when it's cold which is going to give you a very high idle which may render the car undriveable. What you've done is borderline dangerous.

My bad. I stated that wrong. What I meant was, when I put the throttle body back, my adjustments were too tight and the throttle was opened slightly, and that is why the idle was at 1200k. I readjusted it and it is operating normal now. In no way was I trying to adjust the idle. There isn't that much lag time between stepping on the throttle and engine response as there was before. Is there anything else I can do to get rid of the lag?

he already cleaned the throttle body, read his first message. if the air filter is dirty then i would replace that before anything, but im assuming if you had the plugs done at 60k then im assuming you keep a good eye on the rest of the maintenance.

Derrrr..... Dummy. I knew that. (talking to myself)
YEah, new air filter? Plugs were gapped properly? Nothing's loose or torn on the air intake? Try the fuel cleaner like someone mentioned.
Usually I read better...
