Most people that want the smoked look on their 02 max just trades someone with the 01 tails. I don't think anyone actually smokes them. I'm sure you could find someone to trade with.

right, thanks for the advise, anyone paint their tails? i have the 2000 gxe(?) tails, the big ugly red ones, they would look sweet smoked out. unless someone wants to trade for the big red ones i'm gonna paint em myself. (already did the headlights, and they look great)

from what i can gather, it's just regular spray paint with a layer of clearcoat on top.

Thats more or less it. Sanding it with 400 grit or so sandpaper would be a good idea. Tape off what you dont want painted and take your time. www.cardomain.com/id/phatman5050 We painted his tails with krylon black and clear coat spray paint.

i used nightshades it looks awesome! to make it more custom i went over the outside a lot(normal SE look) then i removed the tape over the red 1/2 of the circle and tinted that lightly... LOOKS A+++++ i will be happy to send you pics later next week,(my sister took my digi on her cruse) i bought my paint at carlisle. Remember to buff and then clear then buff again... also try pactra spray on window film. if you have no luck pm me and i'll send you leftovers(not sure if there will be enought i'll chack)

I did that for him as well. High temp engine paint, clear coat, and a lot of patience will get it done.

Do you need to use high-temp engine paint?
