I got an auto, since my wife has to borrow my car at work from time to time. Traffic is pretty bad in DC too. There is no way she can learn to drive a stick either. I am convinced of that. Her driving skills and coordination are not good. I say a prayer every time she borrows my car. LOL. I could get a stick and tell her to learn how to drive it if she wants to borrow it. That isn't very loving though. It's a small concession for me.

stick is so much better not just because it's fun but it lasts longer cheaper u save more gas if driven properly there are alot of pro's and i think u should tell your mother and sister that and plus stick can be taught just start of with the basics and tell them about 1st and reverse stick works out so much better in the long run

The worse is...
Listening to the wife and buying the auto because she can't drive the stick; originally wanted the manual. But jeez....still having second thoughts about that manual only when racing someone else, not happy when sitting in traffic.

The only reason I have an auto is because of traffic. I commute 35 miles each day on the DC Beltway and I-270. Traffic sucks big time to say the least. If my car wasn't used for commuting, then it would have been a stick, no doubt.

Yep... right there with you. I drive on 270 every day or past it. Traffic in DC is second to LA.

Once upon a time, I drove a Supra Turbo with a manual. My wife thinks she can drive a manual. I was a nervous wreck until the car was finally sold. I have no regrets with my automatic SE. Since you're talking about your mom and sister, go for the manual and place the Max off limits to the ladies.

NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO DRIVE MY CAR!
I don't let ONE person drive my car, ever. It's bad enough I have to sit there and cringe as anyone at the dealer or something gets into it and shifts it hard, doesn't come to a full stop before shifting, isn't careful with the interior, etc. So there'd be no way in hell that someone would tell me how to spend my own money on my own car (regardless of who they are) if no one's allowed to drive it anyway
