Headunit installed.....

Finally, my GXE trim arrived, along with the pocket, and i was able to install my headunit. think it looks pretty damn sweeeeeeeet. quality is clean and although the mounting was a b!tch, it sits comfy.

funny thing though, still cna't drive it cause my bumpers weren't done. so it's still left parked. DAMN IT!!!

your thoughts on the headunit/pocket setup? thanx guys.

what was so hard about the mounting? I'm considering ordering the GXE vent really soon.. although, I may go with a alpine 9815 below and a TM-701 on top.
the 701

it looks nice closed, which is how it would be 95% of the time.

puttin the head unit was easy. the din sleeve didnt' fit, so the headunit went right into the brackets. the problem i was having was with the pocket. 1)didn't come with screws and 2) apparently it doesn't need screws because it squeezes between the trim and the din sleeve. exaclty, the one that i CAN'T use because it dont' fit. so i luckily, the bracket has some grooves where it thins out so i wedged the pocket there and with the lack of space and the gxe trim on top, it did fit quite tight.

the other problem, but that was mainly my fault, was that i didn't know that this eclipse head unit sits in the din protruding about an inch. i hate. i thought i was placing it wrong, so i kept on taking it apart, till i realized that's how it has to be. i might end up drillin an extra hole int he bracket just so it can mount deeper.

so i guess it wasn't hard but more annoying cause i don't like the way it sits or my luck with needing the din sleeve to hold the pocket.

gxe vent - 85 bucks with daveb. that's a good price. get it through him. i got 120 from my dealership. almost laughed in their face. pocket was 20 bucks.

all other aftermarket trims don't match up. they either never fit right or aren't the perfect color match. with the gxe trim, you're guaranteed for it to fit cause duh, it was made for it. it comes with vents and thenthe trims go down alon the sides. i didn't bother looking to purchase the aftermarket trim, as i heard from quite a few people that it's not an exact match. but, if you plan on gettin an aftermarket dash kit, then it doesn't really matter what color the trim is cause you're gonna be covering it up.

No, the trim peace goes from the top of the ac control all the way up. It includes the place for the cd player and a pocket and the air vents on top, all one peace, notice, no lines...
