Front wheel bearing problems

I am getting vibration when turning right. Brought the car to the dealer they tell me it is a wheel bearing. Does the hub usually need to be replaced to or just the bearing? They won't cover it because of my h&r springs and "over sized rims" 18's. Saying 2hrs of work as well. Let me know what I should do?

I had a wheel bearing problem too. I took the hub out and took it to my class to have it pressed out. So the hub doesn't need replacement unless you have excessive runout, but then again I would thing that a bad wheel bearing problem would cause excessive runout on the hub. So I am going to say that the hub doesn't need replacement unless the hub has physical damage. The part cost me 65 at a Nissan dealer. Good luck

How many hours in labour did they charge you?

did you also have to take the knuckle out along with the hub?

I'd make sure the hub is checked out at least because if there is excessive clearance you'll be replacing the bearing again along with the hub.

The knuckle will have to be removed and a new bearing pressed inside the hub (if the hub is any good). If the hub is shot, find one at a junkyard. 2 hrs of labor is plenty.

Do not concern yourself with the bearing brand name. Bearings are simple and relatively cheap. The condition (there are several critical dimensions) of the hub, the outer axleshaft, the bore of the knuckle, the knowledge of the person doing the job, and do they have the proper tooling to accomplish this job, should be more of a concern to you. Most of the cost of this job will be in the labor.

I think I paid about 85.00 for my one front bearing another 45.00 to have it pressed in and then an hours labor (approx. 100.00) and then the car required a front end alignment another 90.00 just to give you a ball park number = 320.00

(pretty sure the dealers quote is including the alignment)

Make sure you carefully disconnect the ABS wire from the engine compartment and leave the sensor in the HUB. They usually break when you take them out. I bought new Timco bearings and had them pressed in. Have not had any other problems.

I can do this for anyone that needs new bearing pressed. Might even be able to do an exchange program since I have an extra set of spindles now. PM me.

Details here.

Are you the same guy who tells people to use search when there's a 6 year old thread on a subject?

I mean really - either people search or ask again. Pick one.
