2K2 + owners, do you spin your tires in 1st gear?

I'm trying to figure out if I lost power in my car .. it FEELS a tad slower, and I had to rev to 3000-4000rpm just to stay on par with a Toyota ECHO ...

My only benchmark is that I distinctly remember always spinning my tires in 1st gear and feeling wheel hop (on a full WOT start in 1st) .. now I mash the pedal down and get no such behaviour. Only thing is I have new Falken tires on now, and not the OEMs, and wondering it's because they are stickier and better hookup...

argh, too many variables.

I'd like to hear feedback from others out there, are you guys still able to spin or chirp your tires in 1st, and do u have new tires?

Thanks for the input

Not too tough to do even for 2k-2k1 owners. Yes, alot has to do with the tires, but also road surface, ambient temperature, etc....and then of course there is how the engine is performing.

I have 235/40/18zr Falkens 595.
I still get some wheel hop. Not as much as the stock tires or the nitto's that i had on the car.

The last part of your sentence is what worries me .. "how the engine is performing" I can't figure out if my mis-adventure with oil in the intake tract, the greasy MAF sensor, etc, screwed upmy performance. I was so happy just to be able to clean it off and not have to take it to dealer and that it was no longer stalling at 4k rpm that i didn't notice performance loss. Now i may be paranoid but suddenly i feel as if it MAY have lost power .. course, there's no way for me to verify that, and can't take it in to the dealer for no reason ..

CrippenX... take your Max to the dealer... it is probably the MAF, and there is a TSB for it to be replaced at their expense.

I have actually chirped the tires in 2nd gear as well as in 1st gear. I have done it before and after I put new tires on.

I've chirped into 3rd from 2nd on dry surface w/stock Blowtenzas (3800 miles on them, infrequent abuse). Going WOT in 1st would definitely light up my tires.

I spun into 2nd w/2 friends in the car the other day! You should've seen their faces!

I had my wife in the car when I did it. The look on her face was priceless!

Before the intake, with 4k on the odo and Craptenzas, dry concrete pavement, no launch, mine will stick WOT. If I even think about launching it, they blow off.
