New shift knob causes tranny failure----!!!

I have a 2k max 5spd and I bough a new shift knob for it. After trieng to remove the old one for 1 hour(i had to cut apart the whole knob to get it off) I finally got the new one on. When i went for a drive I noticed a Terrible whine from each gear. I was like damnn my tranny is F-uped. Then I decided to take the shift knob off and the noise disappeared. :confused: THANK G-D. Aparently the 2k2 6speed shift knob I got has a screw holding the two peaces of the knob together. I tighten the knob too much and that caused the noise because the screw was vibrating on the shifter(WTF) So this time I didnt tighten the knob all the way and my maxima rocks again. :D

oh no! that shift **** was in great shape!! what happenend?!?
