Tail light conversion

Tail light conversion
Im sure this has been discussed but can't search for it. I wanna put the all-red GLE tail lights onto my SE. Is the removal procedure fairly simple? Has anyone here pulled it off?

The conversion is very easy. Just pull back the trunk liner to expose the lights. Disconnect wiring harnesses. Remove the four (I think it's four) nuts, you'll need a deep socket for this. Then use a hair dryer and heat up the edges of the lights to loosen the sealant, trust me this relaly helps. Unless you are the world's strongest man, I highly suggest doing this. Then you can push from the inside and then pull from the outside and they'll come right out. You can re-use the sealant if you need too.

I just did mine last week. Like Greg said, 4 5/16" nuts per side and I didn't have to heat it up at all. Just park in the sunlight for a little while.
Also, I would spring for 1 roll of sealant from your local Nissan dealer ($15). It's better to error on the side of caution and avoid what might possibly turn into a trunk full of water on the next rainy day or wash day.
The process is SIMPLE. 20-30 mins maximum.

I did this mod back in March, and it was a lot colder than it is now. I never even thought to use heat, but it wasn't an option, anyway - we did the swap in a mall parking lot.
I used a long breaker bar to loosen the seals - wedge one end in the trunk, and just put steady firm pressure on the back side of the light. Not enough to break any plastic pieces, but enough that the seal loosened after a minute or so. Once the seals break, they're easy to pull out.

Desc: Sealer
I'd take MoCoMax up on his offer & save yourself $12-$13. Again, I wouldn't trust using only the left over sealant. Saving $13 isn't worth the headache of having a trunk full of water (if Murphy decides to happen along).
