front suspension stiffer than rear

I have an 03 SE with Maxspeed springs on it and lately (now that it has settled) I am noticing that the front is about 2x as firm as the rear.

I realize the front should be firmer than the rear due to a heavier "load" (the engine), but once the car is back on the ground and settled, the front should be similar to that of the rear, shouldn't it? The springs are already "loaded" so the weight of the engine shouldn't be an issue now.

The only thing I can think of is a) I need new shocks for the front - something that lets me adjust the firmness, or b) my springs have too high of a spring rate for the front.

The rear is great.. Not too bouncy, not too stiff.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Kevin

If the rear is stiff it will just hop sideways under hard cornering over any kind of bump. It needs to be able to flex to maintain contact with the pavement.

That is what a stiffer front end causes.

The fronts are linear and the rears are progressive. This may be why the front is initially stiffer.

So is there anything I can do to make it less stiff in the front? I thought front springs are usually progressive to handle the initial engine weight but you are right the maxspeeds are linear in front because they are the same coilsize all the way through. The stockers are the same, though, and they are not nearly as stiff..

Ugh..
