Air Suspension

I plan to get an air suspension, I was told by a buddy that it is cheaper and better to buy all the parts you need instead of buying a kit. Can some1 list da parts I need, not exact parts from companies but the actual part
EX: Air strut
etc

Don't '63 Chevys lend themselves to this better than a Maxima?

I was thinking the same thing. why would you want to do that? buy an old impala and do that.
im pretty sure you wont get any helpful responces here. there arent many Maxima owners that would do this.
dont make your Maxima ghetto!!

so you drop you car just to pimp it? you can "pimp it" for alot cheaper. im sure most chicks dont care if your car is an inch lower then another Max.
i thought dropping was a performance mod and yes i admit it does look better. but looks is not just to "pimp it"

by pimp i mean on a personal note...i have coilovers as noted and i have my tv. by pimping, i'm just cruising. don't care much for speed. just like to enjoy that point A to point B.
also, some may be low rider fans. i'm a big lowrider fan.
and on the use of it....i have a very steep driveway. with coilovers i need wooden planks just to make it up. if i had an air suspension of some kind, i could easily raise it to get up my driveway, lower it for smooth streets, raise it when i get into the city, etc....
there are many uses for it, not just pimping. i wouldn't pay $2k(more for custom) just to stay low. i'd find many uses before i decided the money was well spent.
i'm on coilovers for now and i'm happy. low, yeah. in ny, yeah. annoying, not so bad if you get used to it.

ok gotcha. if you just used it for functionality that is one thing. if i was in your situation i might get it. but if you did it to impress people and did it driving around that would be stupid (i think)

Okay people people people
I have a couple solid reasons

First With a body kit and 20 inch rims i need to be able to lift my car when driving thru rough roads. I don't a messed up kit or a broken rim. Also when this car goes to a show it sitting on the ground I get a lot more looks and betta scores. When I drive I raise it. To do this with coilovers is a ***** and hey if i can save an extra grand and get air suspension Y not just do it. What else am i gonna spend my money on booz?

WTF? Why is everyone bashing this guy for a strait up question? He didn't ask if you thought it would look pimp or getto he asked for the parts, now that being said, does anyone have this information? Actually, the person to ask would be thebigsadler hes got the sickest 4th gen, hes got air suspension on his ride so it shouldnt be too diffrent for our gen. He most likely he wont see this thread so privet message him.

good luck finding a shop to machine you brackets and a strut mount for the front. might as well suck it up and pay for something that is already premade for your car and will have no problems (ie - southwestautoworks.com bolt on air ride kits for our cars).

i love when people troll threads and add useless comments about how they think it shouldnt be on a maxima and how impala's are the only cars that should be on air and etc.. shut the fukk up.

as for a parts list: strut bags, cylinders, valves, compressor, pressure switch, air tank, air lines, air switches or switchbox, gauges, and then lots of wires to make it all work.

fyi i am currently selling my air ride kit.. the only thing different for a 5th gen that you would need to pick up are the top mounts (which can be bought for around $100 or less for all four)..

I just got my bags installed today. Havin a few minor problems like leaks and not enough room for the 20's to tuck but these issues should all be resolved on sunday. I had to roll the fenders and cut some of my kit. I'll post pics as soon as i get a chance. It looks great but it rides like crap. I kinda regret it but maybe i'll change my mind when everything's running properly.

Bags wil look sik on a Max with some wicked rims. The only drawback is that you will lose some of the performance , handling wise. I wouldnt rag on a Max on bags, as long as it's a good kit. Not some ghetto **** that will take 5 minutes to lift and drop ....

Most Newb's need to check themselves and STFU !

Bags are sweet, any car that can rest on its frame and tuck some big old rims looks tite. I would only do them if they were like audi A8 bags or bmw bags that could be adjusted and still have very good handling. (I love the curves!) I wouldnt think bags would be good for a daily driven car though. Not sure what your situation is, good for show cars though. All u flamers what about the oppisite end of the spectrum, jic coilovers? a little ruff? Same thing just diff purposes. Its what U like and no one else, because how ever sweet your car is there will be at least 1 person that hates it. So is life. If u dont like the way my F$#$ing car looks dont F$#$ing look at it!!!!! I think thats all that has to be said
