Got my Pilot A/Ss and I must say...all of u

who recommended them are right on...I cant believe these tires...yes, they are a tad louder than the MXM4s that came off the car but if anything, they are smoother riding than the MXM4s.

Wow...whatta nice ride...!

To all of you who recommended them I say only:

Sidewalls

Galo --

How are the sidewalls on these things??

Are sport stiff, or just average??

I'm looking to get something that's got a stiffer sidewall than the craptenzas.

Please let me know!

I have them on mine for a month now and yeah they're great. I got mine at "Costco" $205 each. Butler tire wanted to charge $270 each for the EXACT SAME TIRE. I suggest going to warehouse clubs. The wet traction is great. Wished these were oems. I can't stand the bridgestones that they put on our oem maximas. Michelin is the way to go!!!

I just ordered mine yesterday. Will be installed Monday...I went with the 235's to fill up the wheel well a bit better. Did you go 225 or 235? I got 40k on the craptenza's and they are getting dangerous now...any puddle over 50 mph sends the car into a tizzy...Sure wont miss that crap.

Ghost...quite frankly they seem to ride better

than the Potenzas....
Now mind you...I'm saying this only because my first Michelins (the replacement for the Potenzas) were the Michelin MXM4s that just came off the car (more on this later) so my comparison is based on the following reasoning:
- First Michelins (the MXM4s) rode better than the Potenzas
- Second Michelins (the Pilot A/Ss) ride at least equal to -if not a tad softer- than the MXM4s, so by deduction
- the Pilots would be softer than the Potenzas..

Now, that said....they are indeed a bit louder as well so....ride is better but tire noise is a bit more intrusive.

The tire definitely feels 'tighter' than the Potenzas and MUCH more sothan the MXMs...turn-in is crisper, steering feels sharper, etc -but that should be expected as the MXMs are more 'grand touring', V-rated tires whereas the Sport A/S are W rated.

In case you're wondering, the Pilot Sports A/S were a free upgrade from Sears after two of the 4 MXMs went bad...that's customer service that just cannot be beat, IMHO...

Give the Pilots a couple thousand miles and they will quiet down a bit or at least mine did. Wait untill you get them in the rain all I can say is WOW

It feels god like driving with those tires in the rain. Love how it just SHOVES all the water aside WITHOUT hydroplaning..

I'll be changing the tires on mine pretty soon to the Pilot Sport A/S. Like everyone else has said, the Blow-tenzas can be quite unnerving in adverse weather conditions (Kind of like the old Eagle GTs and Gatorbacks back in the day).

i will most likely be purchasing some a/s and im glad to hear the positives. in the rain i wont get white knuckles anymore. how does the traction off the line compare to the blowtenzas? and i heard michelin tires seem a tad narrower than bridestones so would opting for 235/50's still look good?

I have the Z rated and the the traction is like spider man. I would go for michelin any day. Actually the only tires I would get are Michelin, Toyo, and Yokohama. My dad's CLK55 has the Pilot A/S. The tires just look BEAUTIFUL. I would get 225 if I were you. If you get 235, it would look weird.

I second JWC...I would go with the stock

225/50 size...go to 235/50 and you:
- made the speedo error a bit worse
- added probably 2lbs of weight to the rotating mass...dis is bad
- Gone up to -what, a 95 or 97 load rating which you will a) never need and b) make the car ride harsher because you'll have less sidewall deflection for any given impact

...nahh...stay with 225s.

IMHO, The 'looks' issue with the Max is not skinny tires, it's that the rear tires are so far inside the wheel wells....I cant wait for my H&R 15mm spacers to arrive...still in backorder, though...

ok. you convinced me. 225's it is. yeah i look at my tires and i say they are def. not skinny at all, yet from the rear i feel like a ricer.

I agree on the rears being too far inside the fenders....

Got behind my car whilst my buddy was driving it a few weeks ago - and YIKES! It looks odd to say the least...

GALO:
I've seen some posts on the wheel spacers b-4....where'd you get'em, and how much they run you?!

Thanks again!

will 6th gen wheels fit on the 5th gens? they come with 245/45/18s right? i think that may fill out the wheelwells niceley if the offset is correct. or maybe the 18s from the track model 350Zs (i love the look of those rims)

the maxima 18's will fit no prob....the 350z track rims will rub...and you will need to replace the tires (the back ones are wider than the fronts)

Ditto that..I'm over 20k on my Pilot A/Ss and the tire noise has never been an issue for me. In the rain these things are fantastic!

Quite nicely...I haven't measured them yet this season but will when I return home and let you know...I'm over in Korea currently so it'll be a week or so. I've rotated them regularly at 5-7K miles so there is still plenty of useful tread depth left.

Ghost....I ordered mine from ECS Tuning

(ecstuning.com) but they are on backorder -have been for about five weks and with another two weeks left before they arrive from Europe. I cant recall exactly how much they cost because I ordered them so long ago....somewhere in the 110 buck range.

Not cheap but these are high-quality pieces...hub centric, include new studs, etc. I ordered the 15mm ones

The stock potenzas were actually a narrower 225 than what you would normally see for a 225/50. So, the Michelins look substantially wider than the stock potenzas.

PLEEEEEEEASE take some pics BEFORE/AFTER of these.

If that's all it takes, I'd gladly keep my OEM rims. I just can't stand the 'tuck' look.

Ghost...the spacers were $104 bucks for the

set, meaning, 104 bucks for both the spacers required on the rear axle.
We'll see how they look in about three or four weeks, unfortunately...

Max Gator is right...the tread width spec for the Potenzas is 6.9", that's about 1/2 inch narrower than the typical 225 width tire...
