Pinging noise revisited
Recap: about a couple of weeks ago I noticed that after shutting off my car, it was making a lot pinging noises after going up a big hill.
So this morning I took it to my local dealership and told them what I've experienced. Well, they couldn't reproduce the pinging or pull any codes and told me that if it occurs again to bring it in. I was reading the ignition coil TSB and was wondering if anyone experiencing pinging had their coils replaced.
Thanks.

Quite a number of people have had their coils replaced. I haven't though... damned warranty ran out before I was even aware there was a TSB for the problem. Seems like I don't have the faulty coils though... *knock on wood*
BTW, you're using 91-93 octane gasoline right?

I hope you don't mean the pinging AFTER you shut off your car...that is just the sound of metal cooling. I would suspect that after going up a hill (working the engine harder), the temperature may be higher and that is why you may have noticed more of the pining noise. It is quite normal...
BUT if you hear pinging while driving...that's another matter...
