I took my 2k max to the shop today because the AC compressor was leaking a green fluid. Nissan said that the main seal on the compressor was leaking and they could not fix it. To replace the AC was over $1000. One of the guys came out of the garage and said to take it to a local garage that they might be able to fix the problem much cheaper. Anyone ever had the same problem. The guys at Nissan said that they have never seen this in a car with only 45,000 miles.

 

Yeah, go to an independent...it will be cheaper. That green fluid is compressor oil...sucks dude.

I would like to know why this happened to a car w/ only 45,000 miles. Here in VA we only use the AC 5 mo of the year.

 

Little use can sometimes be as hard on it as too much. More likely, you just got one with a bad seal. Luck of the draw of sorts...

I have a 20th Anniv. Maxima and I had the same thing happen. I noticed a little puddle of neon yellow fluid in my garage, and took it to the dealer and they said they would have to replace the compressor. Thankfully it's under warranty. I would hate to pay that bill!
