Good Tires or Not? (Futura Plus Touring SE)
Good Tires or Not? (Futura Plus Touring SE)
Today I went to pep boys to pick up the angel eye fogs lights and noticed they sell tires. I asked the worker if she could quote me on some tires for my max. They had Futura Plus Touring SE with 80000 mile warranty P225/55R17 for $65.00 each. Does anyone have these? Any coments on these? Should I get them?
All info is appreciated.

Dunno about that particular size, but I once had a set of Z-rated Futuras on my Camaro (245/50/16)---I've never been so scared in my life. The sidewalls were so thin it was all I could do to keep the car going straight. Every adjustment of the wheel made an extravagant overadjustment in tire rollover. Never again will I even think about those tires.
Don't know about this particular model, but my experience with Futura tires has been negative. I bought a set for my previous car (93 Gr Prix) and I could just feel how the car lost the handling compared to stock Goodyears. My Futuras also were 80K, but after 50K mi they looked 90% worn. I would stay away from this brand.

Seriously, though - if you want long tread life, you'll be giving up traction (particularly wet traction). Every tire is a compromise - no compound or tread can be good in every condition. However, if tread life is more important to you than traction, those tires will probably be just fine.

If link doesn't work look for Lifeliner SLE's.
I wound up picking up Falken Ziex ZE-512 at a local shop for 120 each. I am very happy with them. There were recommended to me by the person at the shop and for that price I could not go wrong. Then I noticed that they were featured on a tire site since they had gotten good reviews.
Take a look if you want to save a few bucks and want a tire that can perform under stress. Good luck.
