2002 330i auto vs 2003 Maxima SE auto

I have a friend that has a 2002 330i auto(bonestock), my boy always talk **** about my Maxima. Anyway I know he would tear me a new *** with his 330i around the cones, but I want to know if you guys think I could take him in a drag race. We are planning to drag race next week the strip is about 1 mile long. I have two mods (Injen CAI and Greddy Exhaust) How do you guys like my chances.

I think it would be a very good race. Manual 330Ci's get to 60 in what, 5.8 seconds? So with the auto and your mods I wouldn't be surprised if you pulled a car or two (or three) on him.

my friend has a 2001 330 ci with 3 inch cattback exhaust, dinan cold air intake and underdrive pulleys, and I have a 2003 maxima with injen intake and I can take him on the 1/4 mile. BMW are too heavy for their own good.

Agreed, I have encountered 2, as long as you know how to launch the 3.5 you'll do good. He was a little behind my rear bumper at 70 and we shut it down on 2 occasions and I am stock.

We are racing next week, so I let all you know what happens. I must say after driving his car a couple of times my Max feels quicker than his so I am really confident.

They have what, 3.2L I6's? Your 3.5VQ makes more low end torque then his motor, and your car is lighter. So like Kloogy said, avoid wheelspin and you should take him without a problem.

they have 3.0 I6, but you loose low end torque when you have an intake on, but he'll still have more low end so he still can take him

Keep the car light - I would remove the spare tire, and any other "loose" stuff you may have in the car. Also, make sure that the gas tank is no more than half full. Keep her light and avoid wheel spin, and you should beat him.

Let us know how it went !
(BTW: we all love sticking it to those BMW and M-B snobs ....)

You should beat him if you have a manual....i have a friend who owns a 330 convertable/manual, and i can take him in my G35.

But you never know strange stuff can happen....

Does that go for all intakes, or just Injen?

Sedan..oh well almost got it right. My woman drives it!

i have never driven a 6sp MAxima, so i dont know which gears pulls the hardest. i figure if you hit every gear and a ok or good launch you will beat him. Dont forget he's RWD!!

6sp maxima is just as fast as my g35 if you hit the gears. But if you get a good 60ft time (launch) you could easly beat me. I have TSC-VDC
Thats what you need to do..do it from a launch and it will become a drives race. Do a roll if he has a Auto magic!you will have an Automatic car lenght off the jump

it will be a close race...be safe and good luck....you always can put a lil 75 shot and really smoke him!

My mom has a 2003 G35 sedan (5spd auto). That thing is weak as hell off the line. The electronic drive by wire kills performance and makes take-offs feel syrupy. But midrange power is excellent! Still no match for a 6spd Maxima, especially off the line.

YA no joke i still havent found a way to take the control off. You have to power brake the thing to get a fast launch.

I havent had the pleasure to race a 6sp 03'Maxima. But according to car and driver, ect, they run about the same in 1/4 and 0-60. Only thing i have an advantage is that im consistant.
