I've searched the TSBs and found no mention of this problem: after ~ 5 mins in stop & go traffic my idle starts climbing (neutral, foot off all pedals) and ends up racing @ over 3000 RPM . If I punch the gas hard, it drops back down to around 1000. I'm taking the car into Nissan this week but thought I'd check with fellow Max owners for similar experiences...

 

have you modified something with the gas pedal in any way?

Sounds like the throttle body is sticking. Check out the throttle body and the throttle cable for any possible problems.

 

Damn, I should have used this excuse 3weeks ago when I got pulled over. I was in uniform too (I work at a shop) and could have said the damn throttle stuck why do these things hit me a month after. Oh well, anyway yeah the throttle is getting stuck for some reason, odd in a new car but its obviously sticking somewere. I can really guess much else w/o poking around under the hood.
