Meguiar's No. 26 Hi-tech Wax

This weekend I will finally be leaving the apartment life and moving into my first house. I have never had the facilities to wash my own car and had to rely on commercial car washes, but now that I will have my own house I want to do everything myself. I have read quite a bit of useful information on this board about how to make my Max look great but I have one question. I am going to use Meguiar's No 26 wax but I am not sure of what the differences are between the liquid wax and the paste wax. I will be waxing by hand. Can you guys help me choose between the paste and the liquid? What are the differences and the pro's/con's of each?

Thanks!
Ryan

I'm not the wax-type person. I pefer to use polymers cause they are more durable and apply easier than most maxes. I recommend using Klasse All In One (AIO) because of the easy of application and because of the many good things I've heard. Klasse also makes a High Gloss Sealant Glaze to provide even more protection and shine. Zaino is also a very popular brand that involve a lot of time and $$.

You can visit autopia.org for more on detailing tips.

Yeah, that will be how it is, but give it a few years and the 'joy' tends to die off!!

Really though...good luck!!

Ok.....the best was on the market is Gold Class by Meguiar's!!!It will make you paint job look richer darker and deeper.O and its $10!

I would use its cleaner first, then wax it.

If you dont want a wax i would use Rain-X. Its really bada$$ last a good time too.

Those are what i use and never will change.

I've got Meguiar's 26 and the Gold Class. I would recommend the Gold Class. Easy on, easy off. Great depth!

The synthetic wax's are very good for durability and protection, but I've read they are hard to strip when you want to re-apply.

Go with the Mequiar's Gold Class....

I've used both. Meguiars Gold Class gives excellent results on dark cars and is very easy on and off.

The paste wax has a longer shelf life, than the liquid.

Go to http://www.meguiars.com/carrx.cfm and you will be able to fill out a form that will give you a prescription (Rx) on what Meguiar's products to use for washing, polishing, and waxing your car based on your needs.

I agree, Meguiars Gold Class is a great wax. Easy to apply and easy to take off. However, I recently switched to Zaino products. Let me say that my Max has never looked this good, even when I got it 6 months ago. The depth of shine that the Zaino gives is incredible. It makes the paint look wet. As far as effort is concerned, it isn't hard to apply at all. Extremely low effort. It does take some time though. Most good things do. If you are looking for a great wax that will take no time, get Gold Class. If you don't mind spending a nice day on the car, say 3-5 hours, go Zaino. You won't be disappointed either way though.

Congrats on the home purchase!!!

I my understanging liquid wax is good for show and will last a few days.. Paste wax will stay on the car for more then 2 weeks cuz it's bonds to the cars paint better.
