lightweight rims

What rims are nice and light for there size? The centerline RPM's are light and I looked at the Konig Tantrums but they didn't have a weight listed. Every pound counts.

If you want some lighter rims, you can pick up some lightweight 5zigen rims, I held the 17" rims and they were light as hell, they are about 15lbs-16lbs or so, I think they come in 18s aswell. The 18" rims are about 17lbs, not sure how they compare to others, but thats pretty light. http://www.5zigenusa.com/wheels.html

How do you like them and what size did you get? Do you have any pics of them? Also, if its not too much to ask, how much you paid for them and where?? Thanks!

The centerline RPM's don't come in 8" do they? You think getting that extra inch is worth a different rim? I really like them alot and they are light but not as wide as I would like.

Based on the research I did when I was looking for wheels (about 8 months ago) you can get lightweight 18x8 wheels if you have the money. Also, there aren't a lot of lightweight, low cost 18" diameter wheels that are 8" width. However, if you have the money to spend then there's a lot to choose from.

BTW, my definition of lightweight 18's means less than 19 lbs. If you are willing to go 7.5" width then you'll have a plethora of light wheels to choose from that are reasonably priced.

Anyway, from my research, apart from the very expensive ones $400+ per wheel (SSR comps, Racing Harts, Volks, etc.) here are the only other lightweight (<19 lbs) 18 x 8 ones I found below $400 per wheel.

1) Enkei RPM2 $250+ per wheel 18.5 lbs
2) O.Z. superleggeras (what I have)$330+ per wheel 18.3 lbs
3) SSR GT1 $399+ per wheel 19 lbs

So do you think the extra inch or half inch is worth the money, will the handling be noticeably different?

I think it weighed a little over 50!!! But, i'm really not going for speed, more of looks and better handling, so that is my trade-off.

Hey, my friend just had those 17x7 5zigen F01r-c (something like that ) rims put on with Kuhmo 711 225/45r 17 put on today from Discount Tires for about $1150 for everything.. and damn, these rims look nice and they are light. they are about 15lbs each. Very nice ride and everything, all he needs now is to lower his car and everything is set. If you want some light rims and that wont cost you a fortune, goto a Discount Tires store and they will most likely drop it down to about the same price my friend got his at. The rims are usually $200 each.

Konig's are never light. Those Centerline's are only 15.6 lbs. Impressive.

Food for thought:

Take 2 wheels that weigh the same. One is a 17 inch wheel the other 18. Because the 18 inch wheel has more mass it will still require more energy to rotate.

Correct, a larger diameter of weight requires more power to rotate.

Here is the kicker.

Would a 18" wheel that weighs 25lbs with a 25lb tire outside diameter of 25.9".......

and a 17" wheel that weighs 25lbs with a 25lb tire with a outside diameter of 25.9" be any harder to rotate?

Food for thought!
