I know this has been brought up before, concerning something like "20 tweaks you didn't know about," but I was just browsing the electrical section of my 2002 Maxima service CD, and in headlight section it says CONSULT-II has these settings:

Auto Light Set - Auto light sesitivity can be changed in this mode. Can be adjusted in four modes: MODE 1 (normal) MODE 2 (Sensitive) MODE 3 (Desinsitized) MODE 4 (Insensitive)

ILL Delay Set - Auto light delay off timer period can be changed in this mode. Selects auto light delay off timer period amoung eight modes. MODE 1 (45 sec.) MODE 2 (OFF) MODE 3 (30 sec.) MODE 4 (60 sec.) MODE 5 (90 sec.) MODE 6 (120 sec.) MODE 7 (150 sec.) MODE 8 (180 sec.)

Anyone had those adjusted? I could certainly have the sensitivity set higher. I also noticed the auto-lock time and the window down time can be changed. I want to read through and see if there are any others settings now...

 

Nobody? Anyone interested? I think I'm going to stop at the dealer about this tomorrow. I also noticed there are more settings for the lock/unlock light flash/horn settings, a total of 6, including the 2 we can select with the remote.

 

I'm interested in my auto lights becoming more sensitive.

Is there anyway you can do these yourself or do you have to go into the dealer?

 

I've had the lights desensitized one level (Mode 3), and had continuing power to windows extended to something like 2 minutes (same price for two changes...). Anyway, the problem I was REALLY trying to solve, lights coming on under overpasses etc., was not fixed. However, the light sensitivity works pretty well now - comes on about where I might typically turn on the headlights.

Continuing power is cool, but would be MUCH more useful if it still worked after the door is opened (which is when I usually realize that the sunroof is opened). Without that it's only sorta helpful.

I changed the light sensitivity on mine. I just wish there was a delay on turning them on: ex. when you drive under a bridge, it doesn't immediately turn them on, say wait 30 seconds or so first.
