?? False Floor in Trunk

Well, since I am having such a hard time finding a replacement carpet pad for my trunk, I've decided that I may just do a false floor. The piece that covers our spare tire is so flimsy anyway, it could be a good idea. Anyway, does anybody have any pics of a false floor set up in there trunk?? I was thinking that a 1/4" MDF floor with a removable lid for the spare would be nice. Any ideas??

How can you be having that hard a time finding one? Call DaveB (number is in the FAQ's). You can always cut plywood or something just for the spare area without going crazy in the whole trunk.

I did one and am very happy with the way it turned out.

I used the existing pad as a template and cut it down as needed.

jjs, the factory pad cost $214.00 !!!!!! The Maxima logoed pad is like
$ 65.00. I have that one. I need a new pad. Maximan, like your floor, I'm thinking of something very similar. What size MDF is that?

I unly used 1/2" No need for anything bigger. The biggest problem is that the Maxima trunk is nowhere near flat. On the right corner, I had to screw another piece under it to brace. It is very flat and sturdy now.

I was wondering whether it would have to be leveled. I've got a guy looking at my Maxima mat now because it needs to be cut and edge finished out to make room for my amp rack. Thanks for all the help.
