Fog Light Installation - HeLp

Hey I have a 2000 GXE and I bought the factory fog lights and fog light switch. Is this a job I can do myself b/c the dealer gave me an estimate of $275 for them to install it. Is my car pre-wired for fog light installation? Please provide me with as much help as possible. I would appreciate a complete walk-through if possible. Please remember that I currently have those black inserts where fog lights should be

alright you need a phillips/small reg screwdriver 10mm socket and 30 minutes. Remove the 5 screws in the stearing column to pop it appart remove the old stalk and untape the harness which will go to your fogs... REASSEMBLE...Go under the car I believe there are 3 plastic reuasble pop rivit things, a 10 mm socket and a phillips screw remove all and move plastic out of the way... release wire harness for fogs...remove plastic hole filler thingys insert bushings(provided) fasten harness to fog and push fog light assembly into location go under and insert 10mm bolt into bottom of light..there is a plasic i think 7/8mm adjustment *** on back of light adjust against flat surface...repeat on other side or just look up how too i search... good luck sry bout the long post

That sounds good, but would my fog lights work after this process, what about the switch. Is my car pre-wired forfog lights?

Does you stalk have the option to turn on fogs? Also in your relay box do you have one for FOGS?

I honestly do not know. All I know is that I had to buy a new switch b/c the switch I have doesn't have the switch for the fog light. But I have not yet installed the switch as Nissan is asking waaaaaaaay too much.

It is actually pretty easy.

My vote for easiest self-mod.

PM me if you need a walk-thru - I am in Brooklyn (don't know what part of CT you're in)

I believe all Max's are wired for them. I did this mod with the kit from Nissan. Just check in the fuse box for a foglight spot without the fuse. I have the factory instructions E-mail and I'll answer any questions you have.

ALL Maxes are wired for fogs, whether they came with the car or not.

The relay that comes with the OEM fog kit goes in the fuse box... you'll see the spot easily labeled. If you are doing aftermarket fogs, dunno... you'll need to buy a relay from Nissan.

The stalk also needs to be changed out to have the switch for turning the fogs on/off. That comes from Nissan as well for aftermarket (or is included in the OEM kit).

I never bought the OEM kit, all i have are the 2 fog lights, the bulbs, and the switch, I don't have the relay, how can i get one. And when you said I'll need a new stalk, did you mean a turn signal switch? Can I install the switch myself or does NissanHAVE TO do it?

The fogs you have....are they Nissan fogs? I bought my whole kit from courtesy nissan (i think) and it came with everything needed, including simple, step by step instructions. I wasn't trying to be a smart butt earlier either. I figured this was the kit that you have, and I was simply just saying that YES, it is very easy to do.

Yes, you need a whole new turn signal stalk, but this is not a biggie, very easy to switch out. Also, all maximas are pre-wired for the fogs. It would be way more expensive for nissan to produce different wiring harnesses for different trim levels.

I can help out too...

Just email me at ryanmichael19@yahoo.com

Sounds like you have an aftermarket switch. Buy the OEM switch which is a turn signal stalk with the fog light switch built in. It will make your job so much easier. Plug & play basically.

I hope you found it by now but I'm going to do this as soon as I find a switch. I think this is it.

Everycar leaves the factory prewired for nearly every option available during it's production run whether it's installed or not! It's prewired!
