WTF is wrong with my max
WTF is wrong with my max
I have a 2000 auto. It seems like every car on the road pulls harder than my max. It has 32500 miles on it. I just brought this car last february and its just been a total disappoint in the power department for me. I love the way it rides and feels but it lacks power. I had the tranny solenoids and computer done when I first brought it because of the hard shifting from first to second. That problem have been fixed, but the car pull like shiet at high speeds. I've gotten beat by a lot of lesser cars. The other day on the highway, I was playing around with a Kia Optima and that POS started to pull away from my max when we both punched it going around 75. Where is all this power that I hear the maximas have? I've checked to me sure that the power valve on the VIAS, and its operting correctly. Maybe the coils? Does anyone the part number for the revised coils? Any other ideas?

Here are some things that you can do:
1.) Tune-up (including new spark plugs, change air filter, oil filter)
2.) Mods (air intake, y-pipe, b-pipe, exhaust or better yet, get full catback)
3.) Supercharger (self-explanatory)

Yeah...I was pretty disappointed when it happened. It messed up my whole day. I eventually caught up to it, but it should never happen. If I had to do it all over again, I would have most definitely waited to find a 5 speed. I wish I could trade it in, but I'm sure I would end up losing about 3 or 4 grand. I only had the car for four months and put 6K miles on her.
As far as the moding goes, when I brought the car I had the intension of throwing on the stillen areo kit and possibly lowering it. After all of this its more than likely it won't happen.
Is there anyway to check the coils besides replacing them?

I have a 2000, and to me it has PLENTY of power....
I have smoked many a car in my max, including, but not limited to .....
1. An '01 Mustang Convertible GT Auto
2. Several integras and civics..
3. A bmw 530i
4. a Bmw Z-3 (not sure if 4 or 6 cyl)
5. A NEW G-35 Auto
6. A corvette Z-06 (i woke up several hours afterwards....but....it was still cool)
MORAL: quit beo-tching about your max, and figure out a way to make it faster...

anyway i have no human regards for my max and i have lost all faith in it, but i will tell u this, i am missing the VBmod and pulleys, i am saving up to buy these mods and i pray for dear life that my car will run under 15.3,its the worste feeling getting pulled on and then the person asks "those are the 222hp maximas??"anyway all i can say to u is maybe trying the VB mod, people say its great and im willing to give it a shot, i dont have money to boost or anything like that for now but good luck modding

I don't know what to say, I just hope some of you can't drive. My 2k auto has done very well in all the races I've had. Sure, it's not a world-beater, but it goes better than most other sedans out there. C'mon, how do you lose to a Kia?
my max never dissapointed me....i beat the crap out of pretty much everything comparable to the max, bmw 530, mustang v6, camaro v6, damn near all domestic v6's and a few v8's.... the monte carlo ss made me sweat a little though...2k 5sp-short ram intake-short shft- straight pipe.... BTW a racing straight pipe without any other exhaust mods sux a$$ and destroys low end torque.
