I just got rear-ended :(
soundmike, my rear bumper and muffler with exhaust tips had to be replaced. Other than that, everything seemed to be in place. My insurance company and friends at a body shop handled everything for me.

Mike,
I am very sorry about this, I know how heartbreaking this kind of wreck is, plus you and your fiance' are injured! The repair bill will be more than the estimated $4000 if Mossy has to do frame work and replace parts, not to mention paint. The most important part is that you make SURE the police report declares the other party at fault, and get the other car's data (license, reg., etc) from the report. Your medical bills and THEN SOME will be covered, not to mention your car... But you have to find a lawyer, ask co-workers, friends, family etc. in the Houston area to vouch on one for you, and then when you call him make sure you tell him who referred you, if they were a former client he might cut you a deal. But get one (lawyer) quick and keep us posted.

Mike, like you, i was rear-ended in DEC 2002. At the time I had a 2001 Olds Alero (please hold the groans
). Anyway, my 10 y/o son & I were stopped for a school bus and a 17 y/o in a truck topped the hill @ 65 mph (note the speed limit was 35). He hit us in the rear-left backend (see pictures @ http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/williamsp...+Alero&.view=t)
I also had a lot of arm, neck & back pain & a constant headache for 4-5 mos. I had to go to a neurologist & she shot something in the back of my neck. I think it was something to numb a nerve. The medication should have worn off by now, and the headaches have subsided.
I have already settled for automotive damages. They totalled my car and paid me retail NADA plus sales tax. That's when I bought the Max. I am still in treatment w/the chiropractor, but forsee ending this soon. I have NOT gotten a lawyer yet. A good friend of mine suggested I wait and see what they offer. If it's not to my liking, then I can always get a lawyer. The hard part is deciding what a fair price is for 4-5 months of "pain & suffering".
I hope you both recover soon and the whole process is as little trouble as possible.
Best wishes.
