possible solution for vibrating steering wheel

Just wanted to share a recent experience I had with a vibrating steering wheel. The solution was a no-brainer, but one you may not think to look for. I just installed new 18's a couple weeks ago and noticed vibrations only between speeds of 55 and 60. I figured the tires must have been out of balance so I took it to a local shop. They checked it out, tires were fine, but what actually was causing the problem was one of the centering rings had become dislodged in the installation. Car is great now, no more shaking. Like I said, easy solution, just wish I hadn't paid the $50 to have 'em look at it.

I think he was talking about vibrations when driving not braking. Center rings on aftermarket wheels can cause vibration if they not correct ones, etc.

Shaking steering wheel when braking means your rotors are warped. If you have 5gen Max and under 36K, dealer should resurface rotors under warranty for you.

I just got mine done not that long ago.

Negative on that one. My dealer won't do it and the car is still under warranty.

they have to do it if youre complaing of that problem.. you have to know your rights..they have to fix the problem in your car the first 36k, no questions asked.. its part of hte cars warranty. they just always try to push you away first.

That's true... Rotors R covered... Brakes aren't... With my Honda Accord the rotors were warped and they replaced them no ? asked but I had to pay for the brake pads... It's amazing how Nissan operates..

The centering ring is different from the center cap. The centering ring is a washer-like piece that goes on the inside of the wheel. I'd attempt to explain what it does, but I'm honestly not too sure. Anyone?? I know it was the cause of my problem, cause now the car rides great again.

Centering Rings are also called Huncentric Caps... There rings that go over the hub.

Its not true that the dealer has to resurface the rotors under warranty. The 3yr/36K unlimited warranty covers powertrain, and the rotors aren't part of the powertrain. Check the stipulations of the agreement and you'll see that. Things like the brakes and rotors are under limited warranty, so unless something that's obviously faulty with the rotors (like them falling off the bearing while the car is parked), they won't fix them. They'll say that warped rotors are just due to normal wear and tear.
