"Service Engine Soon" Need Help!!!
"Service Engine Soon" Need Help!!!
This morning, I turn on my car, and the light comes on. Have done nothing to the car out of the norm. It was fine yesterday when I last drove it. The only difference today, is that its raining. Is there a way to reset it w/ out taking to dealer? They charge $50. Maybe I should take it just in case it is something serious. But what if it isn't????? WHAT DO I DO?????
If your under warranty, they should not charge you. Take it to your local autozone and have them pull the code. They can also have it reset it for you. Another way to reset your ECU is plugging your battery for some time. Do a search since it works now.. they there is a thread on resetting your ECU.
I had the same problem last week they reset the ECU and told me not to fill the gas tank after the click. it was covered under warranty and they were nice about it..i would take it in if i were you just to be on the safe side. good luck
Mine is no longer under warranty. Damn!
They did tell me about he gas and clicking the ****.
Unfortunately, I can't search. How do I get that feature anyway?
But I will try autozone, see what they say.
Thanks

Actron makes an OBDII scanner for about $140. It works on any car made in 1996 or newer. It will tell you any codes in your computer, and also lets you reset them. All you do is connect the plug into the recepticle under the dash and turn the car into the ACC position. The scanner automatically does the rest. Its that easy. I had the same problem with the MIL light coming on and it was a bad coil. My car has 51k on it.

since the day i bought it- after a few hundred miles it goes away
and comes back 3000 miles later- so I just get my synthetic changed-
At first I checked the manual and it said to check if the gas cap is loose- The only time your car has serious problems is if the light
blinks on-off on-off(like the blinker) - a service rep told me
Anyway I got 15K on my ride And mine was on 3 days ago-and it went away this morning-
Dealers will tell yo anything to delay fixing it. They delayed me right out past my warranty period then wanted 168.00 to flash it. Blinking alone is not the only concern. If it is on, it should be fixed immediately period. You could be running in "open loop" mode which makes it run very rich. Bang- after your warranty is up you may need new catalytic converters due the the damage they received during this "check engine light" period. $3000.00 if you have CA. emissions like most Max's come with. FIX IT NOW AND DONT LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP TILL ITS FIXED. You can alos call 800nissa1 They will hook you up "ONLY WITHIN YOUR WARRANTY" FYI cats r covered 8/80 Fed. law.
